Religion shuts off your brain. Is that news?

Reading New Scientist today, like the good little heathen I am, and I found this article:

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20627574.200-brain-shuts-off-in-response-to-healers-prayer.html

The gist of the study is that the religiously inclined/credulous morons among us actually become even more gullible when faith healers are preaching. In case you are too lazy to read the article, which I totally understand, I'll present my admittedly biased summary in the form of a quote from the article:

"Only in the devout volunteers did the brain activity monitored by the researchers change in response to the prayers. Parts of the prefrontal and anterior cingulate cortices, which play key roles in vigilance and scepticism when judging the truth and importance of what people say, were deactivated when the subjects listened to a supposed healer."

That does not bode well for faith-healing of the brain.

AMEN!

PS, lets have a caption contest in the comments section for that photo.
